Choosing a condolence flower stand

Height is the point

A condolence stand is a tall arrangement on its own tripod, taller than a wreath and built to be read from across the hall. That height is why it is the usual choice when the tribute needs to be seen: from a company, an association, or a group of friends putting in together. Our condolence stands start from S$103, with most between S$150 and S$280. The taller and wider designs sit at the upper end.

When a stand suits better than a wreath

Send a stand when the card needs to carry an organisation’s name, or when the hall is large and a wreath would be lost among a dozen others. Send a wreath when you are one person or one family paying respects, or when the family has asked for something restrained. Both are correct at a Chinese Buddhist or Taoist wake. At a Christian wake, stands and cross designs are both common. Hindu families usually arrange flowers themselves, and Muslim families often prefer none at all, so ask first in both cases.

Sending as a company or a group

Name the organisation, not the individual, unless the family knew the person directly. If several colleagues are contributing, “[Company name] and colleagues” is cleaner than a list of names that will not fit on the card. When the deceased is a staff member’s parent, the card usually reads to the family rather than to the deceased. Templates to edit:
